The honest bit
On the day we checked, the nearest like for like plan for Germany was Nomad at £7.45. We were £2.45 cheaper. Prices move, so click through and check before you buy.
If you are going to be streaming or tethering a laptop for a fortnight, 5GB will not do it and Holafly's unlimited pass is the sensible buy, even at £55.06.
Fiver is data only. Calls and texts stay on your normal SIM, which keeps working alongside it.
The questions everyone asks
- Will 5GB be enough for a trip to Germany?
- For maps, messages, a few searches and the odd scroll while you wait for a table, comfortably. If you plan to stream films on the beach, it will not be, and you should buy a bigger plan from someone else rather than two of ours.
- Do I keep my own number?
- Yes. Your normal SIM stays on for calls and texts and Fiver quietly carries the data, so WhatsApp and anything that texts you a code carry on as normal.
- When do the 30 days start?
- When you first switch it on in Germany. Buy it at home, install it on the sofa, and the clock starts when you land.
- What happens when I get home?
- Nothing at all. It runs out and stops. There is no renewal, no roaming bill turning up a fortnight later and nothing to cancel.
- What if I never use it?
- If you never activate the eSIM we refund you in full, no quibble.
